  Magnetic Field Sensors on Pneumatic Cylinders

The completely modified range of magnetic field sensors combines innovative electronics with flexible mechanics and offers all the features of efficient detection of the cylinder piston in the pneumatic cylinder.

TURCK for the first time is offering the opportunity of implementing analogue monitoring of pneumatic cylinders directly on the pneumatic cylinder with the new WIM40-NTL. Using an innovative measurement method, the sensor provides an accuracy of < 0.1mm across a measuring distance of 40 mm or a linear current or voltage signal (4...20 mA, 0...10 V). Control tasks can be easily and cost-effectively implemented without external mechanical requirement in this fashion. The sensor is extremely compact and is mounted directly on the T-groove of the cylinder. An inrange display and potentiometer facilitate simple adjustment of the sensor. If just a single switching point is to be monitored on the pneumatic cylinder, the INT and INR housing styles which can be inserted from above in the 5.2 mm T-groove and the 4 mm C-groove are the best solution.

Both housing styles completely disappear into the groove. They can be be connected using a standard hexa-gon socket or flat-bladed screwdriver and are very securely positioned by the screw and clip attachment. If other pneumatic cylinders are also in use, the attachment kits which are available as accessories provide optimum service, as the INT and INR housing types can be fitted to all general commercially available pneumatic cylinders. In this manner – with just one housing style for all cylinders designs – the mounting and service effort is reduced considerably.

Furthermore, the updated range offers a large selection of individual solutions, from sensors with integrated fine adjustment to versions immune to magnetic fields right up to AC sensors up to 230 VAC or intrinsically safe for explosion hazardous area usage – of course with ATEX approval.

To ensure that an overview is preserved with this large range, the range has been rounded off by new documentation with selection guides for all the main cylinder manufacturers (Festo, SMC, Norgren, etc.).
